RE: AAMFP - lantern or flashlight?
I would want a lantern in AAMFP. I just think that lanterns fit Amnesia more than flashlights do.

I'd much rather prefer a different method of lighting, such as us being able to actually carry the damn candles for once, have them be part of the environment rather than being a game mechanic.

Didn't they say in an interview they would remove the inventory and use-item-mechanic in favor of only the grabby-mechanic? Sooo...would that mean you have to actually pick a candle up and hold it with your mousebutton while you explore and put it down again to use something else? (But then, woudn't that feel like playing a character with only one arm? )

RE: AAMFP - lantern or flashlight?
Yeah I remember reading about this aswell, which is probably from where I got the idea.
The lantern mechanic just feels too gamy, the first thing I did in Amnesia was swing a chair at a window, after realising I could pick things up, I wanted to pick up the candle next to the chair, it was glued to the table.. Which was glued to the floor.

Well I guess they had to find a balance between making the world feel interactive and not having the whole room explode into one big physics simulation as soon as you bump against something xD (Like when I bought a house in Oblivion and spend an hour carefully arranging all my precious items on shelfs only to then bump into it and send everything flying through the room...)

Like tap mouse1 to pick up candle or flashlight, tap mouse1 again to turn it off/light it again. Then press mouse2 to put it down. Flashlight's battery would naturally run out quickly(like it probably did in those times), making it useless.

Now on topic: What about a hybrid of both?
I swear I saw this one lantern picture where most of it's light is concentrated forward and the rest spread out. It also looks bit like a modern street light but much older with one light source.
