If you don't like the game because it does not scare you play something else. If you enjoy the monsters than play it...

well, Clocktower 1 (SNES) was and still is scary to me, and Fatal Frame games are scary, and Condemned 2 has some good scary parts, and Silent Hill games.
What scares me most are chase sequences. Amnesia had a few good ones, and lots of custom games use them as well.

In World of Warcraft, the "correct" way to play PvE is by gearing up at maximum level, then play dungeons with 4 other people, 9 other people, or 24 other people, until the end of your days.
At maximum level, I roleplay in my own, walking instead of running, making sure to reach a bed in an inn before logging out, and running lower-level dungeons while still maintaining a made-up story. That is not the correct way and would a hardcore player's heart explode from wrongness. But as long as I have fun, why bother?

They could be described as bloated, mutated, twisted, vile, smelling of clove and sage, etc etc..

Anywho, just because you don't find the game scary, doesn't mean it isn't scary.
Amnesia is the scariest game ever made. You were not scared, but most people were.
Just as much as Stephen Harper is prime minister of Canada, I didn't vote for him, but most of Canada did.

It really depends alot. Horror doesn't work if you can't feel like you're "in the game". I find Amnesia scary as hell tho ._.
