Black screen?

I got he game a few days ago and i love it but... when i go to the Archives, just pretty close to the start of the game and read the note where Daniel passes out, my screen goes black and i cant see or move... I know from a fwe videos that there SHOULD be a pathway that leads to this orb thing but none of that appears... the dialogue and audio is fine but not hte rest. im running on Steam and its updated. also i updated my drivers and graphics. HELP PLEASE!

Either skip picking up the note and don't play this part, as you have seen it in videos already and it is not needed to complete the game. Or turn off/lowest all graphics settings and then play this sequence and as it is completed you can turn back the graphics settings.

ok now ive got another problem... in the wine cellar, when i pick up a certain item, and earthquake starts. when the barrel falls on me my screen goes black and i cannot move, same as the problem above...

HELP!
