I don't think a FC can ruin the level editor unless perhaps the core libraries or resources were messed with. I would probably consider backing up your stories and running the Amnesia installer again (uninstalling Amnesia first shouldn't be required unless the installer is really "picky"), then reinstalling the HPL2 suite.

This links back to the GUI file we saw earlier. That's a cpp file, so you can open it with Notepad. Is there code in there, or does it look like the computer suddenly took a dump in there somwhere?

While the error message references a C++ file, that file doesn't exist on the system. It is shown merely for debugging purposes for whoever has the source code of Amnesia. Amnesia is not open source and so doesn't ship with its source code.

 In that case, things became a lot easier: He can just attach/list his resources.cfg here.
