Here's an updated version of the cathedral exterior, since the old picture on the previous page is now out of date:

So, yeah. The intro itself is about 3-5 minutes long.

And it's awesome. :3

I would be careful not to add any content from the actual diablo games (models, songs etc), there was a crackdown on that kind of stuff on the forums and I do not know whether this would fall on the good or bad side of that line. just some advice.

Don't worry, I PM'd Traggey about it. He said that content from Diablo 1 is so old that it's practically freeware by now, so I'm free to use it.

Copyright, by law, is enforced a lot longer than 16 years. You'd be dead before copyright expires.

Considering the original team that created that game (Blizzard North) has disbanded, and the game is so old that the sounds for it have been used in other games as well, is it going to violate forum rules for me to upload the story here? In my opinion, the story just won't achieve the same nostalgic effect that it could if I were to use different sounds and music. Particularly the music. I just want to know how you feel about this, and if it's too risky, I can do whatever is in my power to change it. I know, for example, of a beautiful piano cover of the Tristram theme that the author gave me permission to use. Tongue

Thanks!
Nah, I have nothing against that. The game is basicly open source by now anyway. Knock yourself out mate.

I don't know what else to do. Blizzard North, the company that made Diablo 1, has disbanded since 2005, and none of their materials belong to Blizzard/Activision... I don't want to get screwed on this, but 90% of what makes this mod so worthwhile is the incredible nostalgia that comes with the music.

Another thing to note, is that not once does an entire piece of music from the original game play at once, it is instead all cut up and edited so it plays portions at a time, pertaining to various events. That technically makes it original, doesn't it? Kind of like how YouTube uploaders can get away with uploading copyrighted videos simply by mirroring it.
