When you updated your drivers for the sound card did you first uninstall the old ones, rebooted and then installed the new ones? Did you install OpenAL after you had reinstalled the new drivers? If not for both please try that
It could be helpful if people experiencing the problem posted the file version of the OpenAL32.DLL file in the Windows\System32 directory. For example, I am not experiencing the issue, and have version 6.14.357.19.
It is possible that some another game using OpenAL installed a different version of the library which lacks these functions, and the installer included with Penumbra did not overwrite it.
Some other thing to try: Could you delete the 'wrap_oal.dll' file in the folder where the game is installed and then run the game again?
burbble, yeah, that is what I suspect, but it is pretty difficult to know whats going wrong in every particular case since some people get the error in the game but not in the test.
Heh I tryed every advice here on site... but even the test writes me that error with entrypoint of DLIB... (just at one step i'm not sure if i made it correctly [updating sound drivers]) Any other advice ? I'm gettin' little frustrated... Thanx for your patiency and advice in advance :p
i've tried something...erasing the openal32.dll and run the game and what i found was that the game gave me the same error that it was giving with the dll installed... (AsourceI bla bla bla openal32.dll) maybe the game cant find the dll? :X when i ran the compatibility test it gave me the same error the game show'd
Just want to say something, maybe interesting for the developers
I got an "Creative Audigy 2 ZS" with the latest drivers and i didn't install these OpenAL drivers when the installer asks you after game installation and yes - the game just started perfectly and sound was working correct.
Does the Creative drivers contain these OpenAL drivers or why it worked for me?
I registered, just to say it. I had the same problem. The ASource or something. I deleted the "wrap_oal.dll" with "OpenAL32.dll", And it works for me. If it doesn't work. First: Install the Game with the OpenAL32. Second: Try to start the game. If you get the message, delete these 2 files. NOT BEFORE THE START OF THE GAME! Well, I hope it helped you, as it helped me. Peace! !!!Make sure you backup these 2 files!!!
