RE: Oculus Rift Support
If I'm nearsighted and have trouble seeing 3D, will my eyes explode from the strain of wearing these?

Imagine Amnesia with the Rift. Damn. That looks good. I might save up to invest in a pair if they turn out to be good, though I'm getting $50.00 in birthday money and I don't know if I should save up for AMFP.

I'm the same way and no, it won't hurt you eyes at all. It's not really the 3D that you think it is. It's more just like looking with a 90 degree view able to look all 360. Just like looking out of your eyes.
I suggest waiting before buying the product. It's being released mostly for developers, not for consumer.

Seriously, though. How would I do that?

RE: Oculus Rift Support
You can turn 360 degrees, all around. You would have your normal reflexes to do it with normal vision as long as it is calibrated right. So the question is, how fast can you turn your head without hurting yourself?

It wouldn't be fun to have it too high and make a slight movement of your head and spin around wildly in the game though.

Amnesia + Oculus Rift
I would probably shit my pants.
It would definitely make it harder to just remember that it is only a game.

RE: Oculus Rift Support
After seeing the trailer for A Machine for Pigs, the first thing I did was google "Amnesia Occulus Rift" and got this thread.
Adding my two cents, I may buy an Occulus for Hawken... but if any of the Amnesia games, current or upcoming, were to support the Rift... it would be a GUARANTEED buy for me. I'm hard to scare, and while I enjoy Penumbra, Amnesia, and their like because I'm a fan of creepy Lovecraftian horror... they don't really scare or unsettle me. I can imagine the Rift completely changing that.
I'm just saying, please support Occulus Rift - because Amnesia + Rift would be terrifying in the most awesome way.

Ideally the character turns the head same amount. Obviously.
That device also need to manage head turning so that it does
not go out of synch with your actual head. Turning chair should
not be considered as turning head, even though it probably will
be before the technology becomes way more advanced.

RE: Oculus Rift Support
Bumping this thread. The rift was on display at CES and popularity has skyrocketed since then. Many reporters got to try it on, and I haven't found a single one that didn't think it was absolutely amazing. It's clear that this is not just some small niche product, with all the praise that it's got I don't doubt for a second that this thing will be very popular. It would be a mistake for FG/TCR not to consider adding support imo. However, if they do not add support, a third party will probably make a mod that enables support anyway.
Here's a few videos of reactions, a must-watch:
