The brick should be take up in a script, but I see it, it is not possible.
Games are an interactive medium, man. It's the one big advantage they have over movies. There's no point in ruining them with cutscenes.

There may be some exeptions, like when you have to show what's happening somewhere else or if taking control away from the player serves a special purpose like making him feel helpless (see Bioshock for example)... but otherwise I think the scourge of cutscenes should be exterminated!
Anyway that's just my opinion - try and make that scene interactive. It will probably leave more of an impact...
