Story is set in late 19th century in an industrialized city....not a centuries-old crumbling castle in the middle of Prussia. I'm pretty sure neat and tidy should fit just fine for the story, particularly the scenes you mentioned.

Well what we've seen is only on the outside, and in an early room... We haven't got much from "down-under" where the machine is living...
