Oh well. If you do need precision, than he finished "the Brothers Karamazov" at November 1980 and died at the last days of January 1981. Three months after the completion of the novel. I think I could call this period "next day", because it's really close.
Anyway, I love your list of favorites. For example, "The Stranger" is not among my favorites at the moment, but it was for a long period, until I've read "The Steppen Wolf" by Hesse. The same with Proust, he was my favorite, until I felt in love with Joyce. Anyway, we're talking about real High literature, and that's cool!
