[EDIT: Sorry, if this came up from little out of blue, but i think this is rather
strange]

My money's on medical malpractice. We are not given the complete story in the article but if his supposed "death" was due to pneumonia caused by severe hypothermia, it is very possible he was in a coma. Upon exposure to extremely low temperatures, circulation and respiration slow down to the point where they are almost undetectable, in order to conserve precious energy. The heart stops pumping blood to the extremities and focuses only on the organs it needs to stay alive; namely itself, the brain and lungs. Considering that this was in Brazil, where half of the population is so corrupt it won't do anything without getting paid first, I think it's likely the doctors didn't care enough to perform a thorough examination. If the body was not embalmed, and apparently it is not uncommon to forgo the embalming process in Brazil, then it is possible he was never dead.

Just a theory though. It's also possible it's completely made up.

Ok, new food for thought. When we fall asleep or go unconscious, it feels as if we jump forward in time to when we wake up with no recollection of any time taking place in between.

Assuming that death triggers a similar "black-out nothingness" state, were is the mind fast forwarded to, if it does at all?

shit.. as weird as it sounds i hope he really died after that incident, if he didn't then he was buried alive and could wake up again already burried and in a coffin. That's like my worst nightmare

Sorry but we cannot change your avatar as the new avatar you specified is too big. The maximum dimensions are 80x80 (width x height)

Yeah, it is scary as fuck. Actually, it's a fairly common fear. As long as you reject the ridiculous idea of spending a bunch of money on a casket that is going to get absolutely crushed minutes after the grave is filled up, never to be seen again, you should be good to go. No chance of waking up after the funeral, or turning into a zombie. Honestly, I can not think of one good reason to be buried.

EDIT: But in reality, if you have a typical funeral your body is going to be embalmed so that you are still recognizable at your wake which means the chances of actually waking up in a coffin are nigh on zero.

RE: What happens after death?

When i find out I'm dying, assuming I will die from some disease like cancer or something and it's uncurable, I'll probably just wander out in the woods(where people almost never go ofc) and just live there until I die. If I die from an accident I'd probably want to be cremated and have my ashes scattered in some locations.

Nothing. Perception itself is erased.

I imagine that the only thing it shares with sleep is that you don't even realize when it has happened. This is simply because you can't reflect on your own death, no matter how many wise, suit-wearing angels there are.
