RE: Graphics Cards

What are full settings and what is just fine?
Full settings for me are:
1920x1080 with all details max. (except SSAO samples at 16)
Just fine for me is:
30 FPS
My GTX 560 Ti is just fast enough to handle that.

Is this your computer?

Sorry, then it is not compatible, because your power supply is too weak with only 250 Watts.
But the MSI GeForce GT 640 could be compatible!

1920x1080, max details, runs smoothly.

Not to mention that no modern GPU could possibly fit in that case. It just looks too slim. Correct me if I'm wrong

Yes, the MSI GT 640 has 17cm length and 11cm height.
And only 50W power consumption.

Not entirely true, it's not supported by integrated graphics but it will definitely run on some, I can attest to that. My old laptop with an integrated card (intel hd graphics 4000) ran amnesia just fine on low graphics; it might be worth just downloading the free demo from steam ( http://store.steampowered.com/app/57300/) and see if it'll run. Won't take longer than 20 minutes.
As far as a new gpu, which might not be a bad idea anyway just for quality's sake: looking at the specs on your computer, it has a compatible mobo (pcie x16 slot) so a 660 ti will fit, BUT your psu wattage is a little low (250W). You definitely want a lot of clean power for a good gpu. There's also the question of whether or not the GPU would physically fit inside the computer case; you'd have to take a look at the dimensions on the gpu and measure inside your case.
As far as installing a gpu yourself, it's really not that hard at all. I went from knowing literally nothing about building pcs to building a $1,800 gaming/CAD rig just by researching online a little. It's not much harder than putting together Legos, and the GPU is one of the easiest installations you can do on a PC.
If you want more sources for advice, I'd highly suggest throwing up a post on the Tom's Hardware forums ( http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/). There's a ton of great, helpful people over there who know a ton more about computer hardware and building PCs than I do. People put up threads every minute asking for advice, and they all seem to be answered.

RE: Graphics Cards
Hi guys! I've a 2009 iMac with 8 gigs of RAM but a very weak and shitty graphic card... It is a NVIDIA GeForce 9400 with 256 MB (shared). Am I able to run Amensia: A machine for pigs? Right now, I can play Penumbra at maximum settings and Amnesia with medium settings... It lags a bit, but It's not so orrible.
Can I play AAMFP with an iMac with those specifics?
Thank you... I know that we don't know AAMFP requirements yet.

RE: Graphics Cards
BTW, if anyone's looking to put together their own computer on a budget I find that this site here is quite awesome to use as a guide:
http://www.logicalincrements.com/
@emaper: I don't know for sure, but if I had to to take a wild guess based on experience, I'd guess(?) it could run smoothly on medium-low maybe on the low side?

Yah you'd probably be able to run it. They haven't specified the system reqs yet, but they said they should be similar to TDD if I remember correctly.

RE: Graphics Cards
@Kreekakon Yeah, this is what I thought too. It's much more possible that it will run better on the low side, like you said.
@bluel0bster I remember that too... Thanks.
This is the problem of all the Macs, (except for Mac Pro)... upgrading GPU and CPU is almost impossible.
Luckly I've got a 2012 MacBook Air with an Intel HD 4000 graphic chip that is better than the GeForce 9400.
Thinking of selling all these stuff and buy a used Mac Pro with a decent GPU and a faster CPU.
UPDATE: Oh my god! We've got a release date and minimal requirements:
- Windows Vista, OS X 10.6.8, Major Linux Distribution from 2010.
- Mid-range NVIDIA GeForce 3x0 / ATI Radeon HD 5x00. Integrated Intel HD Graphics should work
- but is not supported; problems are generally solved with a driver update.
- 2.0 Ghz core i5 CPU or equivalent.
- 2 GB RAM.
- 5 GB Free hard disk space.

Well yes, I have tested it. I have a disk copy and it said that the program could not be run due to the lack of a graphics card or something. I believe it was Fatal Error: Renderor #0 or something. I think that now my PC is just too small for any good enough graphics card, so I think I just need a new computer all together...

So should I get this graphic card then? That computer that you linked earlier is the spitten-image of my computer, so I think they are one and the same. I plan to open up the mother-board and do some measuring in the graphics card slot. Will this graphic card fit and be able to run Amnesia? Also, this website appears to be in another country. I live in America, so would I still be able to buy it? Forgive me, I just glanced over the website

Do you think Windows 7 would work for A Machine for Pigs?
Have we come to the conclusion that my computer is too small for any graphics card? I need to hear the cold hard truth ha-ha, that I might just need to get a better computer.
