Why is that a preferable trait?

Not quite the answer I was looking for, but okay...

Lighten up, this thread is all about shallow preferences. :p
Personally, I prefer playing as Mandus because while his insanity is evident through the shifting of the architecture, it never gets in the way of actually playing the game. I'm able to empathize more with him because I don't feel like he gets scared at moments where I'm not.

RE: Daniel vs Mandus
Daniel, I listened to his slow fall into madness, and honestly. I feel for him. What he did was horrible, but I could understand Daniel was a monster by forced incidents that changed him slowly. I see Mandus as a monster by choice. There was no (imo) descent into madness.

RE: Daniel vs Mandus
you know. im not actually sure i prefer any of them tbh.
They have both done horrible things. Really hard to say who has done most horrible things, althought its probably mandus.
To play as them i enjoyed both equally.
Because with mandus who get a new idea that its not always everything else that is only evil.

He sure does. By the time you've reached the London level you hear the occasional gaps of fright from Mandus, and once back in the Machine (especially in the Tesla Pig levels), you hear him wheezing, whimpering, and gasping for breath.

RE: Daniel vs Mandus
Daniel.
Again, because he seems more realistic and easier to relate to. He's an average guy, just like most of us and that's what I like. He's no badass noble hero, he just doesn't want to die horribly. I'm pretty sure almost anyone in his place would do the exact same thing, unless they're a saint...
plus, they were criminals, those people. kinda.

It's implied that even the 'criminals' were falsely accused, ordinary people caught at the wrong place and time.
Of course, Daniel was only willing to murder people when believing they were all evil. That distinction didn't bother Mandus - he hated everyone equally, and even those he loved and cared for had to die.

RE: Daniel vs Mandus
Well, what sucks is that both of them kind of decided to be "good". With Daniel, you're past self is trying to get you to make up for his mistakes by killing Alexander. With Mandus, you eventually decide you want to shut the machine down. They both get points off for this.
When it comes down to it though, Daniel was just running scared for his life and is easily tricked into TORTURING people. Mandus went straight up insane and said "fuck society". Mandus wins.
Now, if only the game had the ending where I choose to let the machine continue and I AM THE NEW GOD OF THE WORLD.
