Need a little help, please?

An AM3+ cpu is practically an FX one which is not compatible with your motherboard. Some stores may type wrongly a Phenom II as an AM3+ but it will still work on AM3. Only FX AM3+ cpus don't work on AM3 boards.

I did see some AMD Phenom II CPUs that had AM3+ sockets, which caused my concern. Well, if things won't go well, then I might need to get a mobo that has either AM3+ or FM2. Most of the CPUs I see are supporting FM2 sockets.

Yes, as I said this is a dead platform. That's why. But for a total upgrade around 350$ are needed so it's not for you probably. You can just upgrade the cpu for now with something that should be ok for 1-2 more years without bottlenecking(your gpu is not that good so it won't make a difference).

Quite true. The CPU will still hold out, and if it burns out too soon, then I'll waste some money for an Athlon II X2 260-ish. If I can't get anything better than that, no use trying. Might not work in the end. Once I'll gain a new mobo, whenever that will happen, then, maybe, a 4-core CPU can suffice. Like I said, don't need super CPU here. Something that's good enough. Which is why a Radeon 6670 does a lot for me.

I have games which were GPU-demanding, and some CPU-demanding. The new GPU certainly provided a good speed boost. Up to a nice 60%. As for the CPU part, waiting.

Funny thing, if you scroll down the CPU List I gave above, you can see that your mobo maybe supports one AM3+ cpu, the quad-core FX-4130 which you can still buy and it not expensive at all.

EDIT: It says N/A so probably not supported, we'll see.

Nah, wouldn't risk it in any way. I'd rather wait than to fall into the chance of it not working.

I sent a question to gigabyte asking them if it is supported. Let's wait until they reply back. It's most probably not supported though so you will have to look for older cpus.

Update: As I suspected AM3+ cpus are not supported on such a motherboard. So, choose one from this list only just to be absolutely certain that it will work:

GA-MA785GT-UD3H CPU Support List

Note that at "Since BIOS Version" column, N/A = Not supported!

Well, the trick is, I do see such CPUs here and there, but I only find such for different sockets, and not AM3, which is what I have. Guess I might need to upgrade my mobo when the time's right. FM2 socket seems right enough here.

This doesn't make sense since every cpu is bound to one socket. If the socket supports multiple cpu generations (an AMD trend), that's a whole other thing. Anyway, can you post all the links to the cpus that you find? I can tell you if they are compatible.
