RE: PineTree model animation. ModelEditor viewer = crash!
I did check the .dae file, and it reads the technique as "OpenCOLLADAMaya" And I thought I did have FBX enabled in the plugins manager but it was disabled all along.

RE: PineTree model animation. ModelEditor viewer = crash!
My model does have baked animations, and maximum of 3 influences. I only have 1 joint for the tree model. Starting from the base to the top. Then I sway it back and forth with the axis. The only thing I have not done yet is actually adding weight to the model, but is it necessary? If I don't add weights and just normalize the existing weights that are default, it will still crash in the model editor upon testing the animations. I think HPL2 just hates me.

not quite sure I understand, how the fuck would your model even animate without weights?
but yeah they should be normalized.

Well it animates fine in Maya 2011, but I think since I did not even apply painted weights to the model, I think that may be the case of why the model is crashing in the ModelEditor's test animation menu.
