Black bars and lines running across the screen

Every time during the start where they show the logos of all the companies and the start menu, there are black lines or bars running across the screen constantly. When I'm playing the game though, they dissappear. But, during the cinematics where I can't control the player and during the flashbacks, the black bars and lines return. It makes me lose immersion and is incredibly annoying. I've tried all low, medium, high, and custom graphics, and I still get the same black bars. Can someone please help and get rid of this?

Strangely, there was one time when I started the game and I didn't get the bars at all, but then the next time I play, it returns. Sad

I looked at the guide and didn't see this problem. If I missed it, I apologize.

first of all what are you system specs
Graphics
windows version
are you running on steam
alot of the times its the graphics from this issue at least
and if your on steam run a file integrity check

Make sure your graphics card drivers are updated and try reinstalling them as they might be corrupted. To repair your drivers check Question 3. If that does not fix the problem you might have an unsupported graphics card or defected/highly overclocked showing artifacts.

My graphics is Intel HD 2000. How do I know if my graphics card is supported by the game? Like I said, sometimes the lines don't show up and everything is fine, but if I exit out and play the game again, then the lines will start up again. It's like it's just luck of the draw if I can get the game without the lines or not. So frustrating.

Your graphic card is not directly supported. Try downloading the latest drivers for it and disable most of the advanced graphic settings in Options and it might be playable.

I asked because I have an Intel HD 3000 (same gen as 2000) and since Windows 8.1 update there are graphical glitches like black bars etc even at Firefox and it's due to outdated Intel drivers. So if he has the same OS then that's why these lines occur would be my guess.

Did not know that. Hopefully updating the Intel drivers will fix it then

That's the catch, there is no updated drivers. Intel does not want to update a 2 years old graphics gen card for Windows 8.1, an extremely annoying and idiotic decision from their part. I hope it get's fixed soon.
