Unable to Install/Update A.A.M.F.P

In Steam, I select 'PLAY' for Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, I'm then told steam is updating the game, then I am presented with the error message:

'An error occurred while updating (disk write error)

Can anyone assist with this problem in clear terms that I can understand?, assuming I'm not an I.T expert.

This is a steam error regarding their program or service. It has nothing to do with the game itself. I suggest you search steam support or google for the solution to such a problem.
