RE: Would you want christmas two times a year?
I suppose it wouldn't be as nice if it was more than once a year.
E: Christmas is my favourite time of the year even though I don't believe in God. I even quite like going to church around Christmas.

Say Christmas lasted all year...then is the Steam Christmas sale still a sale if the discounts lasted all year long?

If that's the case...

This is actually what JC Penney's used to do (maybe it started doing it again, we don't have it here). What they did was mark up the prices by an extreme amount and then have constant sales and discounts (as in, nothing was "normal price" ever) and depressingly it worked despite people knowing about it. In fact, they tried to change their policy and be more transparent once and it led to gigantic losses.

Christmas is a secular holiday. Christians hijacked it from the Pagans, and the corporations and governments hijacked it from the Christians.
So yes, have fun with your secular Christmas tree, you little heathen, you!
