there are 10-20 analog robots before the Kaiju's evolve and learn to destroy them. Most robots gets destroyed and the humans then make better jaegers to fight the different categories of kaiju's. They later end up with four jaegers mid-film. So no, not just 2.
Regarding the movie itself, it was pretty ok; As stated earlier it's just fighting and you shouldn't really expect any story.

Yeah, I realize that. My comment was being somewhat sarcastic poking fun at the fact that the Australian, and USA Jaeger are the only two which don't get a ridiculously small amount of screentime.
True there are four Jaegers near the middle, but two of them get killed off in like a minute. I was so looking forward to them kicking ass as well
Now the more I think about the movie though, the more I realize that I really enjoyed it...for what it was that is: A ridiculous, logic-less, over-the-top ton of fun. And what fun it was!
Me and my brother just watched Looper. I liked it and thought it was fresh and interested. My brother got confused somehow and didn't fully understand it and was disappointed :S
