Your employee has stated that this has happened before. Previous security guards who had this job either quit it or are dead. Therefore, he knew they were dangerous and he doesn't care to put them on sleep mode instead?
Plus, if this is how they want to play then how can we be sure they won't do or haven't done the same thing on some customers?

Why would a robot-toy meant for entertainment want to do this? Also, why are they in free roam mode? What's the point?

The robot's either have fucked up A.I causing them to "attack" mike even phone guy says "they're left in some kind of "free-roaming" mode at night, uhh, something about their servos locking up if they get turned off for too long."
The robots "attack" you because they see you as a metal exoskeleton without it's costume and they think they are "helping" you by shoving into one of the costumes.
It's that or they are haunted by the 5 children that got murdered in the place.

No it isn't, because they would lose the rest of their customers. Not to mention the complaints the previous security guards would write. They would also have to pay for a lawyer.
Also why doesn't the place work with electricity?
