Done all the steps exactly, still no success. What a waste of money. :angry:
Ok, might as well go into more detail. I'm using the HaptX version of the game. I installed the game then found and installed the patches. I then applied the hotfix, which I could not get to work. When I tried to run the new exe I recieved a message saying the program cant start because MSVCP71.dll is missing. What can I do to make this work? Also, can the patches and hotfix even be used with the HaptX version?
Update: I did some research into this Ati graphics glitch and you know what I found out? People who download the cracked version of this game from torrent websites dont run into this issue, even ones with Ati graphics cards. WTF. A hacker guy can code a game better then a full company can?

Sounds like you're missing some C++ runtimes. Search your computer for "msvcp71.dll" and "msvcr71.dll" and copy the files into your windows\system32 directory. If you can't find them, download and install these from Microsoft's site:
.NET framework 2.0
.NET framework 3.5
Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable

Did all that, fixed the .dll errors, now I'm getting a "couldnt load Pointlight 2d"
Any ideas?

I don't know, there's another thread about that problem: http://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/sho...p?tid=2918

Try the suggestions in there and also turn off Aero if you have Vista or Windows 7.

I think the problem is that I'm using the HaptX version and the patches and hotfix were not designed for it.

When you get missing dlls it is probably because you have installed the patch or hotfixes incorrect, so that the game tries to start from an incorrect location. Make sure to install the patch at the right location, as it is the haptx version you will most likely have to manually select where to install the patch for it to be correct.

Search your computer and see where the penumbra.exe files are located and then make sure that they and other files are correctly updated after applying patches and hotfixes.

I was thinking that. The HaptX installer points to "C:\Program Files\Frictional Games\" but the patches point to "C:\Program Files\Penumbra\Episode 1". What should I change it to? Btw I dont have an Episode 1 folder or a redist folder in "C:\Program Files\Frictional Games\".
