I'll probably end up taking 20 because I'm a pussy.

You wouldn't be the only one!

RE: The Ultimate SOMA Discussion Thread

I finished AMFP after more than 10 hours. And I played normal. Some people only needed 3-4 hours at first playthrough. If I remember right, they said it's about 5-6 hours long, which I still can't believe.

So I will at least need 15 hours for SOMA.
As longer as better.

I think my first playthrough of AMFP took me around 4 hours and I was playing at a fairly normal to slow pace. I would keep an eye out for anything that might be interesting and poke around here and there.

However I did not flip over every inch of the map trying to make absolute certain that I didn't so much as miss a patch of dust in the corner.

Despite taking me ~10-12 hours to complete, Steam begs to differ.

Funny the review count. One of the best games of all time has the worst count. This only shows again that most people don't understand what quality is. Just because good games are not about "fun".

Who had thought that, but I agree with you.
AAMFP is a psychological experience with a dramatic score like a documentar film about 2nd world war. People don't watch it to get entertained, they watch it because of their personal interest.
Now the question is: Are sad emotions entertaining?

I guess my time is around 20-30. Can't find in-game timer in saves, but I've played from 21 to 28 so that's quite a few hours.

Altho I'm not sure SOMA will be as much "sandboxy" as Penumbra/Amnesia were.

Could argue 3 out of 5 reviews compared it to TDD. Cut back on features and methods of solving puzzles, Hence the lower score. Arguably, AAMFP's review scores could be greater if it were released before ATDD.

People expected a TDD story and horror. What people didn't expect was a lack of interactivity, buildings, linear exploration and overall, a lesser terror experience.

I'd provide evidence, but lack of computer makes it tough.

Edit: This isn't SOMA related. Let us not derail another thread eh?
