I've just bought penumbra series from steam but can't play

I started to play penumbra overture (Arch Linux - Catalyst/Testing). Graphics was fine, fps was fine, everything looked ok. I took my notebook, my wife's note flash light, I used my key and got batteries and glow stick. I've heard the sound of the ship. I've gone to door but there wasn't a door icon. I tried to click everywhere I could. When I press "R" button and look at the door it seems an eye, not a door icon. I guess it's a bug of linux version.

My second problem was black plague. I press the play button, after intro game closes itself immediately. I mean there is no errors, nothing. Game just closes itself. I've figured out penumbra requiem installed in black plague folders. I though they were different games ?

Requiem worked well. I could play it but if I can't play first game and second game whats the point if I play third game. I miss a big amount of story and it really dissappointing because I bought this game with huge excitement. So, It was a real dissapointment for me.

Start by doing a cache integrity check on the games in steam and then try them again. If problem remains post the hpl.log as described in troubleshooting guide after you ran the game as far as you could.

Infact what I had was a game bug in overture but just in case I sent this too. I tried all solutions on black plague but no change. I'm pretty sure it's not a graphical card issue because I guess penumbra would be the first game I had an graphical card issue. I could even play overture and requiem for a while. So, it's not a driver issue.

The problem of overture I cant click the door and go to snow scene which we found out a basement (according to gameplay videos and walkthroughts). If I could just click door problem would be fixed.

I've tried verification and still trying since 2 days. I've bought this game yesterday but I couldn't get it worked.

I think you are missing a 32 bit library for something that SDL depends on. There are errors in the log that are not normal and probably the cause of both crash and why the door is not working. Perhaps running ldd on the game will give you any clues.

Everything looks ok. I'm not sure at the moment what could be wrong. There are errors in the log that shows something is wrong with the system for the game to run and black plague crashes because it can not create a model (probably due to the errors previously).

What graphics card is it specifically? Are you running the screen in thousands of colors instead of millions or something similar that might be a bit unusual?

Maybe try running the game in a window mode (edit cfg in .frictionalgames/penumbra/). Maybe try switching to the none testing version of catalyst.

I didn't understand what you said, could you tell me more simple ? My english is not perfect.

I've tried to run game windowed mode, no difference. I'm replacing catalyst driver now. I will feedback.

If you go back a few years, it was possible to use different color depths for your desktop. You could run 8, 16 or 24 bit. Normally this option is not configurable these days, it always runs in 24 bit. So I was asking if you possibly had configured running in 16 bit and this could possibly be the cause of the problem.

I've tested it, I've downloaded save files of penumbra overture. I could click the first door I came across and it worked. (I guess save point was *blah blah* lake) Only the door at the first scene doesn't work. I've tested it after tried from save file.
