Penumbre Lag when turning WTF

penumbra runs at about 30-40 fps when im walking straingt or turning slowly but when i turn quickly it goes down to 1-5 FPS. Why is this and how can i fix it?

Have you tried turning off some of the settings, like Motion Blur, etc.?

Most likely it is motion blur as scraper mentioned. Turn it off and check.

that was the first thing i did, it helped a little but not much, i have all settings on minimum and i have the latest drivers

I'm having this exact same problem, and theres no reason for it, my computer is well above the requirements and should play overture with ease and it does. until i turn with the mouse, then it freezes up or goes really slow like to 5fps. im thinking it might have something to do with textures? has anyone found a fix for this issue.
oh and i have turned every setting as low as possible, still have the same issue, which is ridiculous for my laptop.

Same problem here -- game was working fine, up until level 6. I turned all the graphics to the lowest setting and restarted the game, but it did not make a difference.

Any help you could offer would be very much appreciated!

Running a 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo iMac with an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS. OS 10.5.8.

Try loading the last save from level 5 and go from there to reload level 6 from scratch, there is a strange and hard to catch bug that makes the physics freak out at times and slow the game to a crawl.
