It seems weird abandoning such detailed part of the level and not using it.

The thing is like about this demo / level. Is the whole artificial setup. You are in what appears to be this normal human area albeit a bit strange. But then you look at the wall it crumbles and you get behind the scenes so to speak, behind where you arent supposed to be, the illusion cracks.

That was one thing that was so awesome in Portal 1 as well, getting behind the backdrop, where you were not meant to be.

I hope someone will make a custom story exploring this.

I mean i have my own ideas about what the demo above could be. Slight spoiler!.






It could be like in the future where the WAU has terraformed the world and the humanlike environment is its way of bring new clones / machines with human personalities into existance.
