I'm stuck by the abyss.

Hello.

So I woke the robot up wich is apparantly supposed to get you going on the dark places, however, stupid as I was, I didn't follow the robot, but rather run the other way or something stupid.

Whenever I try to run the way the robot took of (watched a video of it), I just get "smashed" or something and get teleported back to the garage.

Am I stuck, or am I just looking the wrong way? Thanks!

You can use "RECALL" function on the terminal to call robot back.

The display just say:

ERROR: Unable to receive data

Sad

UPDATE: Managed to solve it by simply walking the way until I reached some cave. Thanks!

I had the same problem, and the stupid robot wouldn't recall at all (I received the same error message). I tried navigating the abyss alone, and after two horrific encounters I decided I'd play it another time, when I'm closer to sanity.

If you find yourself totally lost it may be a good idea to replay the section afresh, remember you can access earlier saves from the main menu>load game

I found the way to navigate successfully through the abyss (brilliant work on the part of Frictional, best puzzle ever). But I have to say although Tau was absolutely terrifying, it was also very frustrating. I spent half my time running or hiding, and I died twice in the effort to read all the data logs, which I never managed to complete. It's disappointing when the game stops you experiencing every part of it.

same thing happened to me, I just quit without saving and reloaded.
