Penumbra: Black Plague Minimizes Itself?

Hey there!

I recently just got my hands on Penumbra : Black Plague after watching loads of videos and reading about it, sounds so freaking awesome.

One problem, every time I try to load the game up, It goes to a black screen and then closes?
Task manager does not show it, all my drivers are up to date and my DirectX is updated.
My PC meets the requirements easily.

Anyone got any ideas?

Go to My Documents/Penumbra/Black Plague/ and take the hpl.log and post it's content here

Remember to play Overture before Black Plague, if you still haven't.

I suggest you re-install, make sure to remove the My Documents/Penumbra/Black Plague folder, then try to run the game with the default settings first. If that works, then try changing resolution and things like that.

Just tried that, still no avail.. Everything is updated on my PC, Drivers for Sound/Video everything...

What OS do you use? Try forcing a different refresh rate, like 60hz, 100hz, 240hz. It can be done via the dxdiag on XP, though I'm not sure how on other OSes. Note that the system doesn't really use the forced refresh rate, but it fools something to make some games run (not guaranteed it would always work, though).

(It fixed my black screen problem with Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, so it might work for Penumbra too.)

I'm on XP just tried 60hz and 100hz, not working :/

Do your monitor support the resolution shown in the log (1440 x 900)? you can try changing the resolution in settings.cfg file in the "My Documents\Penumbra\Black Plague" folder.

I've seen some people having problems with the resolution of the game being greater than their monitor can handle.

Just changed it to my flat screen size of 1280 x 800
Still nothing -.-
