Solved: 8 Years, 9 Months ago Missing Valve

I dont know why my other post got moved or whatever, but i need help here with the missing valve in the Sewer Cistern. This looks like a bug, every walkthru i look at says it should be right there.

If no one can help me, how can i go about getting in touch with Friction directly for help?

use F8 to take a screenshot of the location (screen is saved in install folder) and the attach it to a post.

I think you will have to replay from a save from before you entered the cistern the first time. Then to make sure it works, go to this valve first and make sure it is there. Usually thiscould be caused by a corrupt file, but as you have the other three valves (that are the same files) it might be some sort of strange load/save error.

Any chance that you had been to Cistern, then you updated to 1.01 with the patch? When playing again after the patch you got this bug?

Thanks for the reply, I will try going back to a earlier save. I was afraid of that.

I had gotten this problem before I updated to the 1.01 patch, however even after putting in the patch the problem didnt go away.

Edit> Just my luck, i have no saves before entering the Cistern. So Now I have to start the game over again Argh. This is really frustrating.

Note that this only applies the the Cistern map (the level with the valves and water) and NOT Cistern Entrance. Unless you have run in and out of that map 10 times or so, there must be save games from before you first entered. Check "Load Game" in main menu.

Zanderat:
As Jens says, it is a problem that arises when loading a save game made with version 1.0 in the 1.0.1 game version. I am afraid it is not much we can do about it.

Dodgy Hmm. Was this indicated in the patch notes? I must have missed it the part where it said saves from 1.0 were incompatible with 1.01.

If I reinstall w/o the patch would that work?

This patch is for any previous version of Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
Download the 1.0.1 update!

IMPORTANT: This update should work with all Amnesia releases that uses our serial system. If you have bought the game on for example Steam, use Steam to update the game.

- Rotation interaction now works better with mouse smoothing off.

It was not known until recently. And it will work with older version provided that you do not load a game saved with 1.0.1

In any case, loading a map prior to entering the cistern should work fine (remember I mean "Cistern" and not "Cistern Entrance".

Well, the auto save system only saves 20 times. So no luck there. I requested a save game in the spoiler forum. http://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/thread-4800.html

We will see how it goes. Thanks. No worries. I know bugs happen.
