Custom Story Help!!

I recently got a new computer. The main game works fine, but I am having trouble downloading custom stories. I have downloaded custom stories before, but for some reason I am having trouble downloading them on my new computer. And normally I just drag and drop the custom story to the custom story file, but its not coming up like that and even if I put the story in the right file it does not show up when I open the game to play it, only the main game is available to play.

Well, I can't give you picture of the folder, but I can tell you what it looks likes. There is the main Amnesia Folder and then in that folder are all the different folders that go with the game and one of the folders is custom stories. The folders themselves look correct. It is just when I go to download a custom story, there is a window that normally opens up after you hit download and then I can drag and drop the game into the right folder, this time that window is not coming up....???

It's hard to say what your problem is, but it sounds completely unrelated to Amnesia.

I presume you're talking about the archive not opening automatically after downloading the custom story. Files usually never open automatically unless you specify this in your browser. If it isn't opening, find the file you downloaded in your "Downloads" folder, then open it.

If you can't open it with what you have, then you may need a program to open it. If the custom story is a .rar format you will need an archiver like WinRAR.

I keep getting a pop up that says "C/Program Files (x86) Amnesia-The Dark Descent/redist/custom_stories/Lost_The_Lights_1.3 (1).rar. class not registered??? that's what keeps popping up???

Did you install WinRAR? Try right clicking the .rar file and "Extract here..."

That error I've only seen with Google Chrome, and in that case, a reinstall fixed it.

Ok, but for some reason it wants me to choose a program to open it with? example: Notepad or word 2010...

That's where you choose WinRAR by browsing to the executable for it. You do this because Windows does not have any programs that can deal with .rar files by default, so you have to tell it where to find the program that can use .rar files.

Thanks for all the help! I am attempting to download another custom story to see if this one will work like it should. (I have uploading many custom stories in the past, I don't know why I am having trouble now..)
