Black box!

I might have 10% left of this game to play through, and now a black box appears and is putting me back to desktop when I try to switch room. And of course the whole game just shuts down..
What to do?

We need more details to help. Do you actually start playing then it crashes? Does the game crash upon start? Where are you? What levels are you switching between? Did you try an earlier save file?

I have just made a run from the chemical room where I used the control levers to move the mechanical arms. So i'm running through, jumping and crouching. And then I go left and click on the door. And then its loading, and when its just about to start up again it crashes.

Try reinstalling, the level file may be corrupted. Or perhaps you have a crappy PC Tongue

as spooder said, just remember to make a backup file on the your savegame

Make sure you get the latest patch if you're not using the Steam version. I remember that was a bug I had myself which was fixed in a patch.
