RE: An Incredible Idea
Gonna have to disagree here, if the player is immersed to the point where he has to pause the game during a stressful segment then allowing him to do this to prevent outright panic (and probably the player getting killed), is preferable to killing the player.

There's nothing worse than getting killed in a video game.

RE: An Incredible Idea
My mission is to make a story, so scary that it surpasses Amnesia (Quite a challenge, but where's the fun if there's no challenge?) and the inability to pause the games during scary moments is key. Evil, but key.

RE: An Incredible Idea
Hmmmm.... My faith in this idea has just been re-confirmed:
I just watched a video where the player opened the inventory to escape from a monster.

RE: An Incredible Idea
Exactly. I've seen that some have done that, disabling the esc button and inventory would be perfect in some situations if timed right. But I guess I'll go with disabling the inventory at first.

RE: An Incredible Idea
I agree with this. Many times me and my friends have used the ESC key or tab when we panic.. Disabling that would make us crap our pants lol. If it could be implemented, I would love it.

RE: An Incredible Idea
Like most of the ideas, sounds great at first, but after a little thinking, it doesn't look as shiny before. This is due to not thinking about the idea in detail, how to implement, how it would seem in-game. That's why there are lots of threads with those "great ideas".
About this idea, it might look brilliant, but it's nothing more than pushing player and thus making game frustrating. The most applicable thing is to make an option to disable them with a warning.

While I agree with what you say. I will say what I stated earlier. This would fit perfectly, IF timed right. It's just about how you do it.
