Solved: 8 Years, 8 Months, 4 Weeks ago Amnesia overrides display settings.

i use the nvidia control panel for adjusting brightness, contrast, gamma etc.
however amnesia somehow ignores or overrides there settings.

this wouldn't be any real problem if not for the fact my monitor has a minor problem.
pixels that are completely black (RGB 0,0,0) emit faint blueish light while near black pixels (like 4,4,4) are actually black.
this causes the darkest images to appear almost in negative.

so to indirectly fix this i used the brightness, contrast and gamma settings in the nvidia control panel.
which unfortunately doesn't affect the game.

is there any way of changing the brightness and contrast in amnesia?

i have one more question: how come the settings in the nvidia control panel doesn't affect the game?

Don't know, does it work in other 3D games? Could be that it does not work in OpenGL games, or it could be something else we are using or doing that causes it.

just tested a few games, some using OpenGL, all of them worked properly.
it seems amnesia resets the display settings to default when running, however this is nothing more than a guess now.
