Control Room Bug?

Hi all, I was watching a couple people live stream this after finishing it on my own, and when they finished the Control Room puzzle (they ended with the matching weights puzzle), they mistakenly went back through the hanging door, and subsequently got trapped (the game says that the wheel is broken.) All they could do was exit the game and revert to an earlier save. Is this a bug?

I hope this makes some sense, it's late and I wanted to type this up before I sleep.

Not sure they got trapped, there is a replacement to use for the broken wheel. Unless they already did that and that was the bug.
