.mat Causing windows explorer to crash.

Hi .mat files cause Windows Explorer to crash.
When I open a file containing a .mat file Windows Explorer to crash,does any one else have this problem and does it have a fix?

And why open them with explorer? I don't get it, how can a file crash explorer.exe? I've never seen that before and certainly it is a specific computer related problem.

What operating system, do you have the latest updates, how are you trying to open them and why with explorer and not with the appropriate tools?

.mat Files are used in amnesia models,and I what I mean by windows explorer is not internet explorer.

yes I know that. I'm telling toy that you cannot open these files with Windows Explorer but with HLP2 Tools found here:
