Sorry if I did not make it clear enough. I was referring to the story itself (the plot), the way the player begins, unaware of his past and what his surroundings are. There are already a few custom stories for Amnesia:TDD like this, and many other video games use it. But, I say it again, it's an understandable choice. I'm sure you can make something original out of it and, if not, at least a good custom story.
I noticed all the new assets from the start. That's what I mean by fresh look. (along with the interesting level design I can see in the teaser).
