Black Screen?

Solved: 8 Years, 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago Black Screen?

When trying to play Amnesia Demo (I want to buy, but first wanted to try it out) all I get is a black screen where the graphics should be. I can see text, journal, menu and everything but the actual game graphics its self. I know from videos the menu isn't usually black.

I have Intel HD Graphics and my computer is very new as in 3 months old. I run Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

I have tried downloading new driver software for the Graphics card but I seem to not be able to find the right one. I always get a "could not validate" error.

I saw other people have had this problem and sometimes it can be resolved. I just need some help on trying to get this to work.

Alright, so first you want to download this. If you have normal Intel drivers, you should be able to just double click and let the installer do it's thing. If it gives you a strange error, you probably have custom drivers. To uninstall the custom ones and install the Intel ones, do this:

1. Go to Add or Remove Programs and right click -> uninstall the Intel HD Graphics driver.
2. Reboot your system.
3. Install the normal Intel drivers. You can also restart again if you want.

This should do it.

It tells me I do not meet the necessarily requirements and I have uninstalled my current driver (probably foolishly). I am going to try to update it now. But yeah. I cant seem to get the right one.

Yeah I still can't play and that driver wont work.

Sometimes drivers act strangely like that. What specific model laptop do you have?

I'm not really familiar with Dell, but if they have some sort of place where you can download drivers, you can see if they have the current customized Dell ones. I can't think of a reason why it was giving you an error, though. Maybe try a download of the zipped version of the driver and try that?

I don't know. For some reason not a single driver I have tried has worked. This is getting aggravating. There has to be a fix for this that I just cant see.

I just double checked the specs on your laptop and it says that you have Intel HD Graphics 3000. That's different from the normal Intel HD Graphics and Intel HD Graphics 2000. You might have been downloading the wrong driver, so you might want to double check to see you're downloading the driver for Intel 3000 on Intel.com instead of the other drivers.

Yeah that's what it says on the specs and it says something different on my laptop. It's confusing me.
Yay I fixed it. There was a driver I needed on the dell website. Thanks!

Robert - please help. I have the same Dell you have. Can you post the link or tell me where you went to get the updated driver. I'm having the exact same issue as you. Thanks!
