Solved: 8 Years, 9 Months ago Renderer #0 Error

Okay I have read through the guides but alas I would not consider myself computer savvy so maybe I am missing something. As I stated in the title I have gotten the error
Renderer #0 could not be initialized like the one stated in question 7 of this thread: http://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/thread-3754.html and I have tried all of the listed solutions. I believe my graphics card is of the intel 3000 series from what I've read and it should work, I have tried updating it multiple times using the "have disk" method but it says I already have the latest software.

1. I run Windows 7 64-bit
2. On my Toshiba Satellite A505 laptop
http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptops/...A505-S6004
3. I have this game through Steam so I do not know where to find the HPL.log file

Any suggestions or explanations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

*EDIT: Also sometimes my launcher will just crash as well, before I even have a chance to click anything.
** Fixed crashing launcher but error still persists.
*FINAL EDIT (most likely): Found the hpl file:

your drivers are ancient, update then using the have disk method. You are doing something wrong at the guide, follow it exactly...

Well I was looking to see which drivers I would need to download exactly because the one according to my specifications did not work when I tried it. So I went to the Intel site and it said:

Product DetectedIntel® HD GraphicsCurrent Driver Installed8.15.10.1986A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact yourcomputer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer.

So from this I gather that I can't find an update for my driver on the Intel site?

**EDIT: Went through toshiba and found a download for a driver update for my computer I believe... here:

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/...1073768663

but it also does not seem to work... When I attempted the have disk method I the .inf file was not in the graphics folder, only some weird kit file which did not work either.

I think I'll just cut my losses and just wait until I can afford a real computer.

Thanks for all the help.

I mean I tried, but I think I just keep downloading the wrong drivers?

I went through the process using this file and got the same error screen:

"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

Intel® HD Graphics

The driver selected for this device does not support this version of windows

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software."

Right now before I click the "have disc" button under the "show compatible hardware" box it says I have an "Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator HD" and "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter".

Not sure if that is important ti the situation.

Also I tried the 3000 and P3000 options as well.

Standard VGA Graphics Adapter? Mmmm, I think you also have a Nvidia card. Try installing this:
