Stuttering, Small freezes and framerate Issues

I'm running a Radeon 6850 with up to date drivers. Also have this problem--tried the .cfg and SSAO suggestions. It is distracting enough that I feel less inclined to play because of it :*(

It says they're verified, updating my drivers now too. Hopefully this will work

What graphics card do you have? Maybe it's actually weak and that's why the game is slow/laggy at higher settings.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti
It's supposed to be pretty good

I have the 660 Ti. So if you set every graphics option to the lowest level, does it still lag?

Even with all the settings on low it still gives me these framerate issues

Ok, now it's getting dark outside here and i want to play the game, but i have some nasty stuttering and freezes. My PC can handle this game, please devs make a patch to fix the stuttering and freezes, i'm walking through the game and the game starts to stutter and freeze. I loaded TDD and that one doesn't have any stuttering. So please fix this, i can't really play the game...

For people to understand it stutters like unreal engine 3 games...

You might want to post your specs. Anyway, I'm getting stuttering pretty frequently too. It's not nearly as bad as it seems to be for you but it's still pretty annoying. I'll get a 5-10 fps drop every few seconds, maybe related to streaming like OP says, kind of like in UE3 games.

i5 760 @ 3.5GHz
GTX 670
8GB RAM

I don't have any kind of fps drops, it stays at 60fps with SSAO 16 samples, but i get stuttering while i walk through the game, when i discover new places.

I am 100% it's related to texture streaming (like UE3 games problems with stutter). Devs please fix your issue with texture streaming, i think this is causing the stutters.
As i said the dark descent runs very smooth.
