Try another steam file integrity check.

Okay, I verified the integrity. It still has the same issue.

Can try and make sure that you have the default settings for the nvidia graphics card in the nvidia control panel. Can also make sure to play when the computer is plugged and running performance settings, and not play on battery.

I've restored the nvidia settings to default in the control panel and I'm playing with the cord connected. It still freezes in the same scene.

Have you tried running the game in a window mode and having all settings set to off or lowest?
Can you upload the saved game file (have to zip it I think to be able to upload it).

Did you solve it by running it in Window mode?

I haven't played too far into it, but so far it seems that window mode coupled with low settings is a success. I'm going to see how far I can get, but thank you, so much for the assistance. I've attached the save file in case you still want to see it.

I'm asking because I have a similar system to yours but I don't remember having such an issue while testing the game shortly after release.

RAM: 8GB
GPU: Nvidia GT 540M
OS: Windows 7 x64

My System:

CPU: i3-2310M
RAM: 4GB
GPU: Nvidia GT 540M
OS: Windows 8 x64 (at the time)

Also, the 540M was capable of running Amnesia TDD at full settings and I think the Pigs too (SSAO to Medium though, High is useless and extremely demanding for no reason).
