How to install custom stories?

Hi!

I've tried Googling it, searching for YT tutorials, and I've browsed the forums but I haven't found an actual source to help me figure out how to install custom maps/stories for Amnesia. I play on a laptop that runs Windows 7 (64-bit, if that helps), and I bought the game through Steam.

I've downloaded one map (Survival) and I've extracted it, but when I go to Amnesia's folder, I only have game saves and stuff, and if I go to the games folder in Steam, I only come across all the games I currently have installed... I don't know where to plug in the download so I can play.

I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Put the custom story folder at the folder Custom Stories under Amnesia main folder. You can also check the wiki...

Thanks, but I'm having trouble locating that folder. I haven't come across any custom story folders at all.

I'm probably Captain Fail-Navigator: I couldn't find any info in the wiki as well... T_T

The folder should be called custom_stories. It is located at the Amnesia main folder under the folder redist. If you cannot find it maybe your installation is incomplete for some reason. If you have steam make sure to check file integrity.

I found the folder and the files are good. I tried playing "Survival," but it freezes up every time I try to start it. Is there a fix for this?

What do you mean freezes? Does Amnesia do that?

Yes. Whenever I press "start," it freezes. I ctrl+alt+dlt that, and it's "not responding." This has happened every time.

have you ever tried to play Amnesia before the custom story?

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Amnesia runs perfectly and I've had it installed for a few months. It only doesn't seem to work when I try to run "Survival." I have not yet tried any other custom stories.

Also, sorry-- what do you mean by, "don't spam topics?" ^_^

Try another custom story or contact the creator of the problematic one. Reply to his/her topic about the custom story. If Amnesia, the main game, is running then there is no apparent problem.
