Penumbra will not start...

your computer hardware has some kind of problem. Maybe ram or graphics card related.

Radeon HD 6450 with 4GB DDR3 RAM, all good enough to run every game I got on high if not max details, surely Penumbra can run on this?

Of course it can. Does this happen with all 3 penumbra games?

Yea it does the same "SDL_app" white screen window with all three games

Edit: If it helps... a yellow notifcation box comes up saying "Unable to initialize display", I wont go back to a previous driver version though otherwise my other games wont work and reinstalling the driver to the latest version does not help either.

then there is a problem with the drivers or even with the graphics card. Try other drivers.

Sorry but what do you mean by 'try other drivers', I only have one graphics driver?

1) Download Driver Sweeper and install it. Do not run it yet.
2) Uninstall the AMD drivers and all of their components.
3) Now run Driver Sweeper. Select all AMD, ATI, NVIDIA, PHYSX traces and delete all the results.
4) Reboot your system and then download this(Catalyst 11.9):

5) After installation reboot your system again. Make sure that in device manager your AMD card appears correctly and try launching the game again.

And is there a way to do this without using Driver Sweeper? As I hear it corrupts the XP SP1 pack for Windows 7 and I dont want to take this risk

it corrupts the XP SP1 for Windows 7? There is no such thing and it doesn't corrupt anything when used correctly. I said only the AMD, ATI, NVIDIA, PHISX traces and nothing else.

Okii so I did what you said exactly... and it STILL doesnt work!!! I am even more frustrated now as reinstalling and cleaning the drivers is the most common fix for this issue and it's not working for me!
