Amnesia on a USB portable optical drive

I'm trying to run Amnesia on a USB portable optical drive. It's a DVD/CD ROM. Other discs read without any problems but Amnesia doesn't show up on the drive itself (When activated it says "Please insert a disc.") I'm wondering if the problem is with the external drive.


I have a Dell Inspiron I6400 (with a worn out E drive, hence the portable optical) that meets all of the system requirements except for the 2.0 Ghz processor. I have a 1.8Ghz processor. I would expect that the game would read before the system requirements became an issue. Please help.
