RE: What do you think will be in Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs?

I have seen the super_secret.rar and its contents and was impressed
with the previous brute/grunt designs (wonder why those looks didn't
make the cut?). I guess I really need to read Lovecraft books, because a
lot of what you said (yes I knew about the engine name, very clever) I
didn't realize were part of the Lovecraft story. So you're right, it's
hard to add more when they have so much in it, and the fact they have
done well in Penumbra and Amnesia 1, I'm confident we will enjoy Amnesia
2. Of course by playing these games, I did better than read a
Lovecraft-style story but was part of one.

Any thoughts on what you would want to see in this new game?
First of all no problem, there's probably many more I didn't include in that list. And by looking at the wording in your post, it seems like you think Amnesia 2 is by the same developers? You may know this but it is being developed by thechineseroom.

As for thoughts on AMFP, I know that the developers have said it's set in england around the time period of TDD and is steampunk themed, but we already know that. They also said they are going to do a lot of work on updating the graphics for a more realistic experience, and the sound designer is doing some interesting things to make the sound scarier as well. But as for what I think, I think the machine won't really be about pigs, more like some nightmarish machine which creates products out of human bodies. I think a theme will also be descending into the horrors of this factory and finding out about whats happening along the way. I'm imagining some cool rooms where you have to operate machinery to solve puzzles and parts where you get stuck in ones of the processes in the machine based on the concept art.

Oh I like that thought, yeah that does seem to fit the Lovecraft theme! I would, like you, love to solve those puzzles and those machines. Although that means we must get past who or what ever is currently running them.

Again, won't run on HPL3. The grass demo was from HPL3.

You mean it won't run on HPL2/2.1?

I sure hope it is scary Tongue. Penumbra Requiem wasn't scary at all (though had a fun anti-gravity section).

Although this has been stated many times before I feel like it needs to be said again.

Frictional Games are NOT the ones making A machine for pigs, The Chinese room are the ones developing it, probably on a slightly more updated verision of HPL2.

FG has not revealed what their next game is and for what we know they could still be working on the engine. (HPL3)

As I heard it, Frictional Games and TheChineseRoom were working together to make it. I will quote from http://www.nextfrictionalgame.com

"A collaborative effort between Frictional Games and thechineseroom. Coming fall 2012."

I'm not trying to contradict you or anything, just stating what I know.
