black screen after loading game

i am on an hp desktop running Intel® HD Graphics Family as my graphics card. every time i start the game and go past the start menu (start a new game) i can see and hear the dialog just fine but after it stops all i et is a black screen with a white dot in the middle. i've tried updating my drivers through intel but it says they are custom drivers so i also tried updating them through hp and still no luck with the game, a walkthrough or direct link to what i need to fix my problem would be much appreciated as i'm not sure what to do at this point. thanks

i tried following the list but i cant find the right driver to download, the one i tried made everything on my screen huge and when i tried to run the game it said it crashed, so now am back to my default drivers and still can't get the game to work, any more detailed help would be appreciated as i don't want to waste $20.
