Hi, I just downloaded google sketchup 8 and I made a model and then I tried to import it as a mesh in the model editor but it didn't show up.

Does the Model Editor give a error?

Is it triangulated?

I would strongly advice you NOT to use google sketchup, it's a very inferior modeling program. Instead go to Autodesk.com and download a student verision of either 3D's max or Maya.

What do you mean by "it didn't show up"? Was there literally no information imported, or is the mesh simply missing its textures? If the former, then use a different modeling program, like Blender or one of Autodesk's tools.

When I imported the mesh I couldn't see anything. So I clicked all over the screen until I pressed a box without any texture or anything.

So the mesh is there but without textures? If so, are the textures in the same location as the DAE file? If so, you need to make a material file that references the textures, with the same name as the texture (use the material editor to do that).

As far as I can tell the mesh doesn't fit the model I made. Here's 2 pics to better explain it

In my opinion, anyone that has a decent piece of work should never allow someone to make a let's play of it. It's publicity and might help your content to find itself across the web, but it just kills the spirit of your mod.

A good mod must be able to cause a very personal reaction in yourself, a very subjective feeling that will make you remember the mod, maybe even replay it or just get "that chill down the spine". As said, that's a very subjective reaction and the mod's concept itself must provide several interpretations, in bigger or smaller things, thus creating a very interesting experience where anyone can find at least a thing they can identify themselves with.

A let's play cuts all that. You're watching someone playing something their way, commenting their point of view and in most cases MAKING FUN of such valuable content.
I like video games.

You are an exception. 1. Because you are hilarious. 2. Because you aren't extremely popular and respect the CS Smile

Student versions are for students. What you suggested is a crime against Student License's Contract Agreement.

Today I dreamt the life I could live forever. You only know that when you feel it for you know not what you like until you've experienced it.
