The point of the hole however was that there would be a large window to give the impression of a ballroom like structure. Architecturally, there are two-three more storeys above the ballroom plus a flat roof

If it's a ballroom, there should be small round tables for the gentlemen and gentleladies to sit at and swap gossips while they rest from all that aggressive two-step dancing.
