Amnesia keeps crashing when I try to load my custom story

Hello,

I am faced with a big problem, I am working on a specialisation project for my education, its pretty big and pretty important. I have built the entire level and everything I used is from the level editor, I recently started scripting all the events that will be in my level, but when I wanted to test my first build, amnesia immediately crashed after starting up the game. i got the upside down face symbol thingy with loading below it and after that the game just crashes and i get this message

I thing i am dealing with the same problem as this user, (http://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/thread-13777.html (short thread, only 2 pages)

The game itself works fine and can be played when the correct settings put in again.
I have no idea what is causing it, please, help me.

from where did you get the game?

well i have the game on steam, but a friend advised me to download it. he said that he did that as well after he has troubles with the steam version as well he said a non steam version of the game made for easier custom story development, as steam has not redist folder and what not

Use the steam version. Downloading old pirated copies won't help you build anything.

then i could use some assistance because the last time i tried i had so much trouble that i chose to download a pirated version

i tried working with steam but the explanation on the website confused me, i tried looking at forums to see how the editor pack could be installed but eventually also these people told me it was just easier working with a redist folder as steam has given many people problems with the editor. I would gladly use my original game, would you be so kind as to assist me in this matter?

It is the same thing minus the redist folder. At the wiki, it clearly says:

For steam users, unpack the files to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\amnesia the dark descent\

ok, but what about the other amnesia folder, where does that one go? The folder with main en the user setting?

sorry for asking so many questions, this project is very important so it is crucial to me that i get everything right with this issue at once so it doesn't come up at a worse timing than this
