Black screen

Hi everyone,

You will excuse me if my english isn't perfect, i had bough the game recently and i've being unable to access to the game.

The program is "starting" i can see the logo of Frictional Games but right after that i can hear the "creepy sound" which should be playing on the game menu screen but everything on the screen is black.

Hope you will be able to help me cause i dont think it could be possible to have a problem with my iMac. (every other programs are running fine and fluid)

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 Mo
OS X Maverick 10.9

(and btw i've already tried to remove cfg file, disable SSAO, putting all setting to low, disable fullscreen.)

Hey man, can you attach your hpl.log file? You can find it here:

Windows Vista, 7 & 8: \My Documents\Amnesia\Main\
Linux: .frictionalgames/Amnesia/Main/
Mac: /Library/Application Support/Frictional Games/Amnesia/Main/

In the meantime, have you followed all of the instructions in this thread? There might be a simple solution in there.

Like i said at the end of my previous entry, I've tried multiple solutions before coming here to ask for help. (SSAO, etc...)

The log file you attached seems to stop logging right at the point where the man menu should load (which makes sense hehe). The menu_bg.map file - which provides the visuals for the background - might be missing or corrupt.

You can check that the file is present by going here:

\Amnesia The Dark Descent\main_menu\main\

If there's also a menu_bg.map_cache file present, delete it and then try reloading Amnesia.

Failing that, try reinstalling the game entirely.

If all of that fails, report back!

It seems our games do not run on 10.9 and is currently investigating what they changed to make them break.

So nothing i can try till you release a patch to fix it ?

Unfortunately no. Jens is right, every OS 10.9 user cannot run either Penumbra or Amnesia. Something was changed and until Urkle makes a fix it's not possible to play them.
