The Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy
(- Shaun of the Dead
- Hot Fuzz
- The World's End)
Inception
Ratatouille (lol, brilliant movie)
50/50
The Hunt
The King's Speech

I'd say:
- Wreck it Ralph; because of all of its great themes and morals it presents.
- The Secret Window; a great psychological thriller that kept me guessing.
- Inception; great movie with a brain-busting concept.
- The Dark Knight trilogy; Great movies with an awesome storyline. Plus it's Batman, can't hate on Batman because he's got too much swagger Big Grin
That's all I got for now (too tired to think of anything else at the moment Tongue )

You will see me, and weep in cold fear...

Starting with a few personal favorite directors then, in no particular order...

# Wes Anderson

"All the movies that I've made aren't entirely comedies, they're comedies and they're dramas, and I'm sure they are about emptiness."

I like his movies for the use of light/colors and the sets, and basicly because all of them deal with certain themes that arent so common in general blockbuster movies...
The sarcasm in the dialogues and the fact that most of the maincharacters are anti-heroes/"losers" I really like a lot, more entertaining to me personal then the Hero(es)-goes-killing-badguys-and-wins-while-triumphant-music-plays stuff

>>The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, The Darjeeling Limited , Fantastic Mr. Fox , Moonrise Kingdom and more...

# Tim Burton

"Visions are worth fighting for. Why spend your life making someone else's dreams?"

The stopmotion ones the most, cause thats a dying artform in these computer generated effects times we live in...allthough some of his movies with real actors are very nice too imo.

>> Corpse Bride, Big Fish,Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street , Edward scissorhands and more...

# Stanley Kubrick (R.I.P.)

“If it can be written, or thought, it can be filmed.”

Still epic stuff after all these years... in my opinion just one of the masters in movies.
Due to various reasons, but i'll try not to go write an essay here for im aware that the average concenctration span of modern human is too short to read huge blocks of text nowadays Wink

>>The Shining, Clockwork Orange, 2001: a Space Oddysey,Full Metal Jacket and more...

# Nicolas Winding Refn

"Like all art forms, film is a media as powerful as weapons of mass destruction; the only difference is that war destroys and film inspires"

Especially "Valhalla rising" imo has a great grinding atmosphere, its as if watching some kind of nightmare about vikings, no typical stuff, but very impressive use of sounds and slow long shots.

>> Bleeder, Pusher,PusherII, Pusher 3, and more...

# Quentin Tarantino

"When people ask me if I went to film school I tell them, 'no, I went to films.' "

hylarious dialogues and explicit violence, nice combination...hard to choose a favorite amongst them...

Besides all these guys their movies, people can allways wake me up to watch these following ones again (some ive seen so many times, but still keep me fascinated/amused/thrilled/whatever....

# Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
# Apocalypse Now
# The Book of Eli
# The Blood Of Heroes aka Salute Of The Jugger
# Flesh and Blood
# Blade Runner
((coincidental the 3 mentioned above this sentence all feature Rutger Hauer...heard he will feature in Game Of Thrones also...sweet! :p...))

# Ichi the killer
# Baise moi
# Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels
# The Boondock saints
# De Helaasheid der dingen
((Belgium autobiography movie, I hope there's a version with english subtitles available online, if not, its still pretty cultish to just see the lower class of Belgium society going all nuts with a lotta booze and whatnot...hehehe..))

And probably many many more, mostly european ones...
(no offence to non european movies btw, but those are the ones i see in cinemas or can get at stores....no Batman5 or Rocky 12 for me, just personal taste...no offence once again!)

*runs off to see what's in the cinema this weekend*
