Model Viewer Problem!

I have a problem trying to open a model in the model viewer. It's newly created from Maya. The thing is, the model has no texture... well it does, but it's not from an image file (it's instead a blinn attribute with color). Is this the reason why the model viewer crashes when I try opening the model? Thanks

RE: Model Viewer Problem!

Yes. HPL doesn't use blinns. You need to apply a lambert material with a texture file assigned to it.

I changed the model so the texture is applied with lambert. When I open it with model viewer, it's not transparent like I exported it as. When I try to import the mesh into model editor and upon clicking the folder button the editor crashes on me. What's wrong?

Once you've exported your model you should have the .dae model file and .dds texture file. After that, load it in the model viewer to generate .mat and .msh. If it loads in the viewer, it should load in the editor when you import it. You can go to Documents\HPL2\ModelEditor.log to see what caused the crash. Post that.

Please stop posting whatever editor "problem" you have at the Technical Support section. This is the 4th thread I have moved so far.
